-The pleasant sound emitted as the Baby Butterfly jitters up, the rattle sound and the sound made by the crinkly wings, develop baby’s sense of hearing.
-As baby touches the various textures of the fabrics and plastic teether handle, she develops her sense of touch.
-As baby looks, feels and listens she is stimulating and encouraging her development of the senses and the coordination between them.
Gross Motor Skills:
-When baby tries to reach her hand out to the Baby Butterfly in front of her she lifts her arm as one unit, an action which starts where her arm meets her shoulder, strengthening these muscles and those all along her arm. These muscles are part of the group of muscles used when developing gross motor skills.
Fine Motor Skills:
-Baby uses her hands in different ways, practicing and developing fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination. Following are some activities she may perform:
- Bat at the dangling Baby Butterfly in front of her.
- Hold the Baby Butterfly.
- Grab the teether handle, shake it and later pull it
Cognition:
-When baby bats the toy causing it to sway, and pulls the ring to see how it moves, she learns the connection between her actions and their reactions.
-She will gradually begin to pull intentionally and as she pulls, will anticipate the reaction.
Object Permanence:
-As your baby holds the butterfly and lifts its upper wing, she discovers the pictures hidden on the wing below.
-The appearance and disappearance of the pictures becomes a game of peek-a-boo, teaching her about object permanence.
